There are many architectural drawing competitions out there, some have a long history like the Architecture In Perspective competition sponsored by ASAI with the Hugh Ferriss award, and others like CG Architects 3D Awards with over $54,000 in prizes (deadline May 20,2011) but a cocktail napkin sketch is long considered the first conception of many ideas.  For the second year in hopefully a long running annual competition Architectural Record is sponsoring a Cocktail Napkin Sketch Contest.
