Trained as an architect with Master degrees in Architecture from both the US and China, he practiced architecture as well as taught architectural design and history.  Since he established JJILLUSTRATION in 2000, JJ has collaborated with many well-known architectural groups, developers, prestigious institutions and universities over hundreds of projects.  In each project JJ relies on his artistic sensibility, architectural knowledge and design talents to interpret and capture the essence of each client’s vision, and the result very often exceeds expectations. As a fine artist, JJ draws his inspiration from both his eastern and western cultural roots.  He excels in drawing, watercolor and oil painting, while exploring subjects such as: still life, landscape/urbanscape, portrait and figure, Chinese calligraphy and brush painting.  Though most often painting in his studio, JJ also loves painting from life and working outside in the fashion of en plein aire.  His work has been widely exhibited and has won several awards; his unique art journey was written and published in the Our State/North Carolina magazine, January 2015 issue.  JJ’s work has been collected by both individuals and institutions, from both the US and China.
